Long time gentoo user.  Just found cloverOS.... been reading up.
I have many old machines I keep around for testing. So, Im going to install CloverOS on several, including older laptops.

So, first off I can convert a fresh cloverOS install to basic gentoo with these instrucitons?

https://gitgud.io/cloveros/cloveros#switching-to-source

OR

EMERGE_DEFAULT_OPTS="--keep-going=y --autounmask-write=y --jobs=4 -G"
ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="**"
FETCHCOMMAND_HTTPS="...

to

#EMERGE_DEFAULT_OPTS="--keep-going=y --autounmask-write=y --jobs=4 -G"
#ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="**"
#FETCHCOMMAND_HTTPS="...

This disables the binhost and uses Portage's ebuilds for packages. Now you can emerge from source.

Just that simple, commenting out (3) lines in make.conf

I like LXQT so I'm going to test that on cloverOS and a converted-to-gentoo version.    We'll see.

Also found this site for old ibm thinkpads and cloverOS::
